Happy New Years!!

Well a new year has started, amazing how fast the last year went by! Sofia is now 3 and talking fully in Spanish and in English. She knows who to speak what to, it's amazing to see how much she learns!! We're blessed! This year, Sofia will be going to preschool in august! which is just crazy!!! Maybe we'll be taking one more travel assignment to Florida, I miss the ocean!!! I love the ocean!!! So, we'll see what happens. This will be an exciting year! lots of new babies (from friends) coming this spring and summer ;) We're praying for guidance on what to do in regards to a brother or sister for Sofia, we want to adopt; so it's a process, and one that we need to start soon! We'll see what happens...it's exciting and a little scary! but we're trusting God to really guide us through this whole thing!

Visit from Grandpa Mike

We're enjoying our time with my father-in-law. We went to Elephant Butte; Aaron and Mike caught lots of fish!! as you can see! and Sofia of course loves her new abuelo, or Papa Mike as she calls him. She loves the lake! We've also visited the Aquarium and gardens. It's been such nice weather, not too hot and with rain!!!

The hiking was great! beautiful! Sofia is getting too big for her backpack, but it still works. She did walk a good portion of it too, on the way back though she was so tired she would just sit on the ground, and say, "aqui mami". So we finally convinced her to sit back in the backpack so we can go back to the campsite and build a fire! When it came time to go to sleep she fell asleep so fast!! 2 minutes and she was out!! thank God she slept pretty good at night!

First Camping Trip Pecos, NM

We went camping this Monday, we were planning on visiting Jacks Creek, but the road ended up being closed. We were left with great choices though. We ended up in Panchuela Campground. It was a great place, we were right next to the river, hiking trail and they had nice shelters with picnic tables and a fireplace with a chimney. Sofia had such a good time!!! she ran behind lulu and fell about 100 times! but she was ready to go again, keep running!! The hike was beautiful!! I'll have to post more pics! At night it ended up getting quite chilly!! but as soon as the sun came up over the mountain, it got warm almost immediately! Sofia was so excited to sleep outside! and to have her own sleeping bag! She also loves, loves, hair fishing rod!! Aaron bought it for her and it was $10 well spent!!! she was so entertained with it, and was so excited to use it in the river! Can't wait to go again! It's nicer now that Sofia is really enjoying these activities!

Our last trip in Costa Rica

We made it home! thank God we had a good trip, tired, but we made it! Sofia does so good in the plane, that makes a huge difference ;) this past monday we went near the volcano Arenal in La Fortuna. We went to thermal pools from a hotel, it was sooo nice! all the pools had different temperatures. Sofia loved the warm water, she would dunk herself under water. She's very brave in the water, maybe she'll learn to swim this summer. (we'll see). anyways, we're back to work, trying now to catch up again from our time off. :) It was worth it though!

Here are a feew more pics of our time in Costa Rica. We are all having fun and have had fun and exciting adventures. Sofia is having the best time of all and spends all of her time playing with her cousins. She is speaking a little more now but still is not speaking a lot. We leave for Jaco Beach tomorrow for a few days so we are excited about that. God is good all of the time!! Sofia did the Zip line tour with us last week and she loved it. She laughed and had no fear of hieghts whatsoever. We will try to post pictures of that later. Until next time may God bless you all.

Our Costa Rica Trip so far.....

Here´s a quick update of our trip. Our flight was good, Sofia did great during the flights!! it was such a relief and very tiresome too. We really suprised my nephews, especially Sebas, he stared speechless and then almost knocked me down! My sister Ximie is here also with her daughter Isabella (we´ll be celebrating her 1rst bday tomorrow). Aaron is in Spanish school in Tamarindo, (the beach), he´s enjoying it and learning quite a bit! We had a pretty bad earthquake here, and God is good, we didn´t feel anything because we were on the road, quite a ways from the center of it. Lots of people were affected though. Please keep those families in prayer. Also, we leave friday to go to Nicaragua to go visit my Grandmother, who we havent seen in many years, and we´ll meet lots of other family. I´ll be sure to update when I can. Until next time ;-)

Sofia's 2nd Birthday!

Sofia turned 2 years old! We had her little birthday party yesterday, we had cupcakes and a ladybug cake ;). Time has come and gone, and she's a toddler now who is sooo incredibly independent! so much that she decided she wouldn't wear diapers anymore only her princess undies; (which by the way; she is potty trained now). Thank God! she does still wear a diaper at night, but that's all she'll have with the diapers! We're so thankful nothing came of the enlarged lymph node. She now weighs 26lbs and is 35in long! She now plays alot of "pretend;" and she mimics everything we do and say. She feeds her lion, makes him go "potty", still loves being outside, and loves to chase our dog lulu, with anything with wheels, she tells the dog, "wuwu, go pee pee".poor dog. ;)..what else? she feeds herself (of course), oh, she now showers and she wants her hair blow-dried. Lots of changes as she's becoming a big girl, we just pray that God gives us the wisdom to raise her to be a godly girl!

Sofia's dedication

Sofia's dedication was last week at the church. It was really nice, i of course forgot my camera! At our church they have a blanket ministry so they gave all the kids being dedicated a blanket made by women of the church. They also gave us a nice certificate to remember the day by. Something we really appreciated was that the pastor wrote a letter to the parents; stating the importance of raising (God's child) in His ways; but also he wrote one for the kids, when they grow up and accept Jesus they get to open their letter, and it's to let them know we, and the church have been praying for them to one day make that very important decision. So anyways, it was so nice. Here's some pics of before, and some silly pics of Sofia, on that day. and of the afternoon walk later on last Sunday.

Fall is here!

Finally the cold weather seems to have reached us, at least at night. As soon as the sun starts going down it gets so chilly!!! to me it's freezing! anyways, the days are really nice; Sofia likes to still play in the sandbox, and just outside. :) Sofia and her friend K. are quite cute together, at least that's what we think. ;) The other day we went walking along the rio grande, trying to catch the colors of the fall that are at the bosque, didn't post any pics of that, but, there you go. ;)

Sofia's surgery day

These are some pictures of today when we came home from the hospital, got her into some comfy Christmas jammies ;) the other ones are later on in the evening. Got a good pic of the the incision, pretty amazing, it looks great!
Thank God today is over and everything went well! Sofia has done so amazingly good! It was so hard watching her get drowsy and in lala land after the medicine. I was holding her and then I had to hand her off to the anesthesia doc, she just held her and took her in to the OR and Sofia of course didn't even make a peep. She had to get intubated; which was a scary thought, even though it was in such a good, controlled environment. The surgeon used the glue to close instead of stitches, and good thing! Sofia hasn't even touched her face or acted like anything bothers her. She was still drowsy when we came home, and poor thing she would fall when she was walking, looked just like a drunk trying to walk. ;) Thank God she's eating well, drinking, no vomiting! ;-) and the hard lump ended up being infectious; we were so relieved to hear that; nothing malignant. Everyone was so great at the hospital! it's good to have this behind us now. and thankfully it only lasted about a week and a half of worrying; which when you're a parent it's too long! Anyways, thanks for the prayers and the calls; we really appreciate all your support in our lives.

Ballon Fiesta 2008

This year Sofia enjoyed the balloon fiesta more, she was more aware of them and the shapes, it was fun. I'm sure next year she will enjoy it even more. We didn't go too early and the weather was nice, chilly, but calm. We're looking forward to her 2nd birthday next month; God willing. It's coming right around the corner, can't believe she'll be 2! and she's so independent. She's about 90% potty trained now, she loves her princess underwear, but for the sleep time, we still wear diapers. maybe it's more like 85%. She's done this all on her own, so it's been good in one sense, and in the other, I feel like she's too independent. I'm sure that's what every mom thinks when their baby starts to grow up just a little more... ;-)

First "ride"

Both girls got off a little early. K suddenly realized she was riding a real animal and she was a little scared. Then Sofia's pony decided to shake from head to tail and that scared Sofia, she got off, then of course she wanted to get back on. But it was ridiculously expensive for a toddler ride for 2 min;-) oh well, she did enjoy her time at the fair.

We went to state fair on the opening day (less crowded). It was fun, the girls seem to have had a good time. they did the McD farm picking up fruits and veggies and going through the "farm". We also did the petting zoo. (more like the petting the goats and sheep. ;) they also rode on the real merry-go-around. ;-)

Hair cut!!!

Ok, so mom and I cut Sofia's hair yesterday. She really had never had it cut since she was a baby, so it was long, but very thin. She now has bangs, dad didn't care much for them, but she refused to ever keep anything in hair, so it was always in her eyes and she looked so mechuda. (crazy hair). I think now it will grow in more now, and she looks better without all the hair in her face. It will look better too once it grows more in the back. so, there she is! with the first real hair cut! She has hair clips on the side of her hair now, (in the pics). that's why it looks pulled back.

The newest American citizen!!

Mom had her citizenship ceremony this past friday. She's ready to vote for Obama. haha. No just kidding, really! ;-) It was very exciting to see her get her certificate, she knows more English than she'll let anyone know. Several other people from the Spanish church were also becoming citizens. So, after the ceremony we just came home, had a nice lunch together, had coffee and bread. and that's it. ;-) one more vote will count in this year's elections!

Elephant Butte Lake

We took this trip in the middle of July, this is about 2 hours south of ABQ. We have access to a house there through Aaron's relatives; who own the house. Sofia does really good in the boat, she loves to wear her lifejacket; she "swims" in the lake; and just loves to play in the beach because she can go in and out of the water. By the way notice how Sofia gets VIP treatment, all she needs is the cupholder and a fan. ;-)

4th of July

For the 4th we just went over to a friends house, they had a cookout and they got some fireworks and Sofia enjoyed looking at the lights and color of the fireworks. I think next year she'll enjoy them a little more. Thanks to Granny Lou for the cute t-shirt. ;-)

This is a little old, but i'm updating. This was at the end of June we went camping, i can't think of the name of this place right now. But it was very pretty, calm, not crowded at all. We had a good time. Sofia always enjoys being outside.

20 months!

I think my baby is still a baby until I get around a newborn. BIG difference 1 year makes, much more almost 2. It was hard to think that it was going to go by so fast when they're so tiny, but as everyone said, it did go by fast. She's now my big baby. Changing subjects, here's Sofia in the pics with her pretty new dress (for a wedding). Thanks to Granny Lou for the little fishes, she loves to put them to swim in the pool. and thanks for the hair clips, we go through lots of them. Notice the serious pose, after that she twisted showing off the rest of her outfit. (thanks Ana Maria). Other than thatwe all doing well. Enjoying the summer months, loving our church.

I just love these pics, she was playing with her chalk and she was coloring her legs and belly. so, i saw it as a good opportunity to color her face as well. ;-) Kids are quite amusing. ;-) For those of you that have see "Annie Get Your Gun", (old movie), this reminds me of the song, "I'm an Indian too" "uuh, uhh". It's really funny, you need to watch it if you haven't.

We're finally getting to pull her hair back in a cute little ponytail. She looks older with all her hair back. I've had to buy lots of hair clips because we loose hair clips at an enormously high rate. She'll pull them off and throw them to the side. Sofia loves being outside in her "pool" and in her sandbox. Great investments. ;-)

We were very glad to have Xiomi and Isabella visit us. They were here for 3 weeks and it still went by so quickly. We had a good time. Enjoying as much as possible the outdoors. We had pretty warm weather.

Little cousins

So last week Xiomi and Isabella came to visit. This past week has flown by of course. We've had a good time just hanging out with the family. Isabella is already 4 months, she has grown so much! Sofia just loves to kiss her and she tries to share her toys with her and give her juice; very sweet. it's the thought that counts right? Also Kim our sister-in-law was with us this weekend while Jose was playing boy-scouts with his manly friends. We had a great time together and she got to meet Isabella. We went to Sandia mountains for a picnic last saturday, it was perfect weather there. cool and breezy. Our cousin and her baby girl also went with us. Her and Sofia had a good time chasing a squirrel that came by to check out the food. One more thing, Sofia started her swimming lessons, and the water is pretty cold, so, she's not particularly happy but we go, we'll see if it gets better. Other than that we've had pretty hot weather, but today is so windy and it's barely in to 70! crazy weather.

Santa Rosa Lake

This week we went to Santa Rosa to check out the lake and to go camping. Well, we're not having much luck with the camping. This time we didn't go to sleep instead we packed up around 9pm. A storm rolled in early ;-). Well, as always Sofia just loves the water, even if it's cold! the lake was a little chilly, but she didn't mind that too much. We had a fun time on the lake with the tube and wake boarding. Our friend Eddie and Aaron later on went fishing and did pretty well. Even though we didnt get to camp it was nice day at the lake. ;-) We got Sofia a much, much better life jacket, she can be in the water with no worries.

We had a great mother's day, we went to church, then Sofia and I went to mom's church. They had a nice service dedicated to mothers, and of course good food afterwards. Aaron had to work for part of the day, but he was home by the afternoon. We just hung out, had coffee with my parents. It was nice. Our back yard looks so nice! green grass! amazing what it can do to a little piece of yard; it's a world of difference. we love laying out, Sofia plays; she's just happy to be outside.

White Sands, NM

Last weekend we went to White Sands, it was a 3 1/2 hour trip, Sofia did wonderful! It was pretty amazing to see, it seemed like snow, only it was warm! the sand was cool as you walked in it. Also it was very fine sand. For all but Aaron it was our first time there. I can't believe I've lived here this long and hadn't gone to visit this earlier, but, oh well. At first Sofia wasnt sure about how the sand felt in her hands; but after a while she got used to it. There is also a lake in the place, but we didn't make it to the lake. Anyways, as far as the camping; well, lets just say that very strong winds and tents just don't mix and we had to pick up and leave around 1am after Sofia had finally woken up and Aaron drove the night. Needless to say we were tired Sunday. But, the trip was still fun.

New Yard!

So, here is our new back yard! Diego was here last week, they both enjoyed being outside. (notice how Diego is pinching Sofia's cheek, so funny). Anyways, it is so nice to have grass, for some of you that is not a problem; but here in albuquerque, well, lets just say that rocks are most common. Aaron did such a great job! thank goodness we had friends also that helped Aaron with the sprinkler system. the grass now is greener and has taken root! Thank God! Sofia loves being outside and she can climb up the hill all by herself. The weather has been great here, if only the wind would stop blowing so hard!!

Hmm, someone likes ice cream, yeah...So, not much going on here. Sofia is growing, looking more like a toddler and no more like a baby! yeah, I still don't want another quite yet. Diego (my nephew) has been with us yesterday and today; just watching while Oscar is at work. It's been fun; Sofia doesn't know how to share very well, but she'll learn. ;-)
Last week Adri came over with the girls, and we watched Sofia and Kyra "play". The other pic is at one of my friends baby shower last sunday. On other news we're going to white sands tomorrow and we're camping in Oliver Lee state park, couple of miles outside white sands with my parents, it should be fun. Oh, and I have to take pics of the new back yard! we have grass, and it looks so nice, my poor husband has been working like crazy to get it all done; and he did such a great job! it looks like a different place! thanks honey, Sofia would thank you too, if she would only start talking a little more. ;-)

Phoenix trip

This past weekend we went to visit Jose and Kim. We had such a fun time, mostly hanging out and eating. Kim (of course) cooked wonderful yummy food and desserts. Sofia loved being in the pool, she has no fear of the water! she'll jump off the ledge of the pool, put her face in the water, kick and splash! quite the little fish! we'll be doing swimming classes this summer. ;-)

Here's a couple of more pics. Last sunday we went to the aquarium and the botanical gardens, and it was just in time the flowers were so beautiful; all bloomed. In a couple of weeks we'll go again when the roses start coming out. On other news, we got Sofia a little lawn chair, she loves to sit there and "read" we also got her a mini stroller that she pushes around. Oh, and the best part! we went to the goodwill/thrift shops around town looking for outside toys for Sofia and thank God we got a big plastic ?dinasour with a lid; it's a sandbox, new there's $60-70 she loves playing in the sand! we still have to fill it; we got that for $12 . But the best thing we got was a Kelty kids backpack; for $10!!! it is so nice, it has the nice comfortable straps and she's comfy in it too. Yesterday we had a couple of fits because she didn't want to come out of it. Well, among other things we had a couple of fits. But she slept and woke up in a much better mood. ;-)

Easter and other spring pics

Ok, here's an update of Sofia. For Easter we got up very very early to go the sunrise service at the lobo stadium (calvary church). Poor Sofia we had to wake her up to go, she did really good in the service. It did get chilly though because the wind picked up; but it was very nice service. The Harlem Choir was there and they have amazing voices! We were also happy to be able to take a friend of ours from work with us. We had lunch with my parents; Sofia played outside alot. (by the way the little purple dress my mom made it for her). cute ha. Anyways, after lunch we went to the park and it was very full; so we stayed in the soccer field and Sofia ran around, got herself pretty tired.
The weather here has been great! can't complain, though we do have the crazy spring winds every once in a while. Sofia has enjoyed being outside, going to the zoo, aquarium and botanical gardens (we're supposed to go today and check out all the tulips and other flowers that are out right now). That's it for now.

Zoo trip with the grandparents

Yesterday we went to the zoo with my parents, it was such a nice day; high 60s maybe 70. My dad took the day off from work; for those of you who don't know he had his citizenship interview yesterday and thank God it went well! So, in the afternoon we went to the zoo, Sofia enjoyed it; she's always is trying to get in with the animals, she chased the geese around; and we enjoyed watching the polar bears swim and play. It was a nice day. Also the other day we took her to the park, she ran around for a long time, then she had her first ice cream cone, and of course loved it! it was really funny to watch her trying to lick the cone; she had it figured out in the end. It feels like spring right now, but like always, there will be one more freeze, of course everything is starting to bud, and the daffodils are out and the tulips are coming out. It is so nice to see the flowers out, so, I hope there is no more freezing cold weather coming this way.

A couple of weeks ago a friend and i went walking by the ditch off alameda and there's a lot of homes with much bigger yards and go figure someone had 2 camels in the backyard ? random i know, it was so big! Sofia wanted to kiss it, and it go close enough too! The other pic is of Sofia having her first taste of jello, and as you can see she did not like it ;-( oh, well. She stills loves being outside most of the day, she drags the little horse all over the yard and chases lulu with it; it's too small for her now, so she rocks herself too hard and falls head first or backwards. but she does love the horsey. ;-)

Sofia and Mushu

So, our ferret mushu is no longer with us. We have given him to our good friend Trish who loves him!! he's taking a BIG trip, to Alaska. Sofia had fun with him, mushu would run away from her, but Sofia could manage to pick him up. They're funny.
On other news, Sofia went to the aquarium this past week. We went with a friend, she loved it!! she wanted to get in with the sting rays, and she walked into the glass of the big fish tank. She walked the entire time, so she was tired after that trip.
We also visited friends this week, Sofia and Kyra love playing together, mostly they love drinking each other's juice.
Yesterday we went on a small walk by the Rio Grande with some friends. The weather has been so nice!

Feels like Spring!

We've had beautiful days here! in the 50s and 60s; sorry Michiganders! but it sure was cold there. But I must say we did enjoy the snow, especially Sofia. We have visited Adri's newest baby girl, she's so cute! Sofia and Kyra were also happy to see each other; they kept kissing each other. ;-)
Aaron has been doing alot of work in the back yard, he even it out; so we can plant grass in the spring and Sofia can have a little patch of grass to play in and it's not a slope anymore. They had a little tractor, as you can see it the picture; but it was still alot of work; couple of friends came to help, thank goodness. Also we went to park with my mom, and Sofia ran around, and wanted to get in with the ducks, she had a good time.
Changing subjects, we had a nice Valentines day. Hope you did too. My mom watched Sofia and we went out for a nice early dinner and a movie. Also yesterday Sofia has her 15month checkup; and she weighed 22 lbs was 32 in. long! she did great at the dr's.
Things Sofia has been doing: she has a love/hate relationship with the dog, one minute she's kissing her, the next she's hitting her telling her "ba, ba" translation "no, no". She loves being outside, no suprise, but it's getting harder to get her to come in. She walks around with her snow suit hat on and puts her socks on her hands. She rocks herself too hard in her little horse that she falls head first into the carpet or backwards. Now she wants to buckle herself into the carseat, it can test my patience. ;-) That's about all i can think of right now. Until next time, more on the adventures of Sofia.

Michigan trip

Our trip here is coming to an end very quickly. Time has been flying; we've been having fun, watching Isabella sleep mostly. ;-) She does have her times when she's wide awake. Sofia still just touches her softly and loves to kiss her. Xiomi has been doing great too.
Changing subjects, Sofia just loves being outside, no suprise there. but she has so much fun being outside in the snow. Today it's snowing again, so maybe we'll go out one more time. Though i hear albuquerque has gotten snow twice since we've been gone. Keep us in prayer. our flight is tomorrow and it's a pretty long flight. We're excited to see Aaron again, we miss you Aaron. ;-)

Isabella is finally here! Thank you to everyone that has been praying. Xiomi and the baby are doing great. Isabella was born at 9:06am she weighed 7lbs 5oz and was 22in long!! she has a head full of hair! She's beautiful! By the way Steve did great too, he did not pass out, he was a great support for Xiomi. We are so happy for the new addition to the Huff family and ours as well. ;-)

Here's a quick update, Sofia is doing well. she has a little cough, but getting better. Some people might feel like they have a monkey on their back, well not for Sofia is more like a dog. (Grandpa gave her that for her birthday). Things Sofia is doing now: She now loves to put on shoes, she can occasionally put socks on; pants are a little harder but she gives a good effort. She does not like anything in her hair; but she does like to wear her beannies though. As far as talking, well not much going on yet, but she knows exactly how to tell you what she wants, she nicely takes your hand and she puts your hand in what she wants or she just points. She always needs a spoon or fork of her own when it's time to eat. She also loves to give you a kiss, but only if she wants to, otherwise you get a big fat no from her. (she shakes her head to say no). So, needless to say she's learning and trying to figure things out. Soon enough she will.

Sleeping Sofia

these are just funny little pics of Sofia sleeping with her stuffed animals. she just loves them! Unto another topic, our retarded dog jumped the brick wall in the back yard to go after some little dog that always gets in and out their back yard and he or she comes just to tempt lulu; well apparently lulu decided that today was the last day the little dog would make fun of her and she chased her! there was a jogger with his two dogs that said lulu just played with his dogs; but she chased the little dog. Thank God Aaron heard lulu bark kind of far, so he went outside right away and he jumped the brick wall too. For those of you that dont know lulu, she's quite a short dog to be jumping walls. So, we'll see what happens next. well, actually it will be a little taller wall. ;-)

Hope everyone had a good Christmas and a happy new year! we're doing good. Had fun over the holidays. Ate lots of tamales ;-) Aaron is about to finish his contract with the hospital and we will turn another page. He'll be trying hospice care for a while. it will be a nice schedule, easy work; much less stress. Sofia and I are flying out to Michigan on the 28th; just in time to meet Isabella! very exciting! pray we don't get stuck in Chicago though! it's a little ways away, but i'm already thinking about it. I'll post a couple of pics of Sofia over Christmas. I have more I will download soon. until next time.

We had fun, trying to pose in front of our camera with only the tripod and the timer. Sofia has been walking now, for about 2 weeks, she's still a little clumsy, but she gets up and keeps walking. She also has discovered that she doesn't have to cry, instead she has a voice, a loud one! and can just scream, just to scream or when she's frustrated. that's about the newest with Sofia.
Just a couple more weeks and we get to meet Isabella! I'm so excited. Next week Jose and Kim come, we'll be making tamales with my mom. and hopefully Kim brings her great cookie recipes or chocalate chip cookies (hint, hint). ;-)
Christmas is just around the corner. I hope everyone has a great Christmas with their families; remembering the birth of our Saviour. Have a Merry Christmas everyone.

Funny girl!

Aaron took Sofia to the park and she just loved the swings! Sofia was upset because she was locked out of the kitchen; lulu didn't seem to mind. Her aunty Andrea got her this bear, and she loves it, she hugged it and kissed him. The poor lion (her favorate) needs a break. ;) She's making more progress toward walking, she loves to push her little bus and her pony around the house. Other random things Sofia is doing; she loves to take the cereal out and feed lulu, she also enjoys dipping her hand in her water bowl, then patting her head; she loves to take out all the tissue out of the box; she gives lulu her toys, then lulu happily chews on it until i catch her, she throws her toys over the fence into the kitchen, i think she aims for the water bowl. She still loves the water! bath time is a fun time for her. She wants to feed herself and does not want me to touch the spoon. tons of new things going on, everyday it's a joy to watch her do silly things and she learns, very quickly!

Today was Sofia's birthday party; it turned out very nice. She did wonderful, played alot, was very excited to see new toys and have lots of attention. I had friends come over early and help me decorate the cakes and the house. (thanks Amy and Robyn). We had such a good time. Thank you everyone that was able to make it.

Today we went to the park to try for the famous 1 year old pics. Mom helped me and we got some cute ones. She was given another really cute dress for her birthday; so we might try to take more pics this weekend. we'll keep you updated. She would stand for a long time by herself before she realized it and sat back down. It was fun, i really enjoyed taking pictures of her.

Today is Sofia's birthday. This year has gone by quickly, I can't believe 1 year ago she was less than 8 lbs. We went to the drs on monday and she weighs 19.15 oz. almost 20 lbs! I thought she weighed more than that. She's 30 1/2 in. long! she's grown 10 in. this year! amazing all the changes that occur in the first year. We'll be having her little birthday party on Sunday. ;-) it will be fun.

Weekend

So this weekend Jose and Kim came to visit. We don't see each other very often so it's nice when they can come even if it's only for the weekend. We mostly ate, after that we ate some more. ;-) Kim brought this incredibly sinful chocalate chip cookies, they're soooo good, addicting, i don't know what she puts in them, but yumm! they're soft and chewy.. ok enough about the cookies! (thanks Kim)
Jose and I tried to take pics of Sofia for her 1 year, but she's not feeling 100%, so, she wasn't cooperating as much as we would like. Actually, she just wanted to be in the water with the ducks, so she got very upset because we didn't let her. yeah, we're do mean. she has a hard life. ;-)

Our big girl! eating a banana all by herself! next week she'll be a year old! she's standing more and more by herself and takes 1 to 2 steps then falls; she'll be walking soon enough. ;-)
Aaron painted our kitchen yesterday and it looks really nice; i'm gonna print some pics for the wall (thanks X) and then i'll take the pic and let you guys see it.

New Living Room!

We finally painted our living room; after almost 4 years! A friend helped me pick the colors and Aaron was the primary painter in the project ;-) Our next project is the kitchen, hopefully we'll get it done before Sofia's birthday. Everyone says the living room feels alot warmer; it's more cozy.
Changing subjects I bought a couple of things for Sofia's birthday, I got a cool, cupcake pan, it comes together and it's a butterfly. I borrowed another cupcake pan that are in shapes of ladybugs, butterflies, bee and dragonflly; like the theme of her room. ;-) ahh, i know how sweet! can't wait! we're not having a very big party, it should be fun!

Here's Sofia being a big girl. Aaron got her the little toy truck, and she loves it! she goes backwards or forwards in it. She presses the buttons and makes alot of noise, but she enjoys it and is entertained! which makes me happy.
We also went to the ballon fiesta, we got there just in time for the special shape ballons to go up, it was a little chilly, we met up with our friends Adri and Adam. it was nice we had a good breakfast burrito and hot chocalate. yum. ;-)

Back home

We've finally made it back home for good now. We had such a good time in Costa Rica, I miss it terribly! Sofia and I left on tuesday morning. Sofia did wonderful on the plane. Thank God the plane from Costa Rica to Houston was only half way full if that! Also in the airport Arthur (Paty's husband) was also traveling so, he helped me in the airport with all the bags. Now, the past couple of days have been busy just unpacking. Aaron started to work on monday, and it's at a new hospital; he really likes it. I'll go back to work (1 day a week) that is, lets not get carried away. I'm excited to go back, i do miss it and of course when i'm there I'm thinking about Sofia and missing her. :-) no, but it's good to get away and do something different. Sofia is almost 11 months, she's still not walking only has her 2 bottom teeth, the top teeth look like they should break thru any day now. they take a while, that's how it was with her bottom teeth. She really enjoys playing in the dogs water bowl and food bowl, filling the water bowl with food and vise versa. ;-)

Costa Rica

So, it´s been a while, sorry people. here´s a quick update. Sofia and I are still in Costa Rica; Aaron left yesterday (monday) back home. We´ve been having a good time here visiting with my sister and the kids. Sebastian and Michael love Sofia! Michael mostly call her bebe; they´ve bathed together and play together. Of course Michael still doesn´t understand the concept of shé´s just a baby, share! he tell her "no bebe, eso es mio, yo no te prete" It´s funny, he´s big thing now is to kiss her hand or arm goodbye when he goes to school. She´s very excited to see them when they come back.
Thing we´ve done: We visited La Paz Waterfalls again, and they´ve added so much more stuff; it was really neat, beautiful a tourist spot, but i would say it´s a must! Aaron and I also went on the Britt coffee tour, that was fun too, very educational for us coffee lovers. the best coffee ever is grown right here in Costa Rica! ;-) We went to beach last week and came back on Sunday, unfortunately Sofia caught a little cold and she´s been with fevers and a cough. Sebastian also has a cough so, please keep them up in prayer. Sebas is much better now.
I plan to visit with my friends that i went to kindergarden and 1rst grade with this weekend. It´s always nice to see them and talk.
Anyways, Sofia and I will be home on Tuesday. See some of you soon.

Home for a little while

So we are finally back to our own home. It's so nice to be here, we missed it! It's been so nice to see family and friends again. My mom has lulu and piri, and Sofia loves them, she crawls around chasing them and screams/or talks (whichever way you want to look at it) in a very high pitched voice. It's quite funny. She went right away with my mom, and not quite sure about grandpa, but she warmed up pretty quickly. Hopefully my dad will update his blog with new pics. hint, hint ;-)
Also, we are currently in the process of unpacking our stuff from seattle. But we also have to pack for Costa Rica, which we leave on Monday; so time is flying. I'm very excited about going to visit my sister and nephews! they get to finally meet Sofia.
Kyra and Sofia today had a fun day, they played outside in the pool, they played inside, ate each others food. It's so crazy to see them play together, they're big girls now. They loved drinking the pool water! they would choke but then try again, drink some more, they're funny girls. Sofia is the same size, even though Kyra turns 1 on monday. Adri and I had a lot of fun hanging out again.

Alaska Pics

Here's a couple of pics. We visited McCarthy and Kennecott; that's where we are in the pic. The other is a pic of the same place but from the air. Trish and I took a little plane and got to see the mountain/glaciers it was amazing!! just beautiful. I'll try to post more pics soon. We are having so much fun here, it's like another country here. We saw a mama moose and baby along the road today; and yes, it was Aaron who spotted them. Tomorrow we go to Denali, hopefully we'll see some wildlife. We've had excellent weather, hopefully it continues (God willing).

Alaska

We are here in Alaska!! we had a good flight, Sofia did so good, no meltdowns in the plane. Yesterday we did a 6 hour cruise out of Valdez. We got to to see a whale, sea lions, sea otters and we we're able to get right to the glacier, which apparently is never the case. It was a lot of fun, Aaron pretty much took care of Sofia, while Trish and I took pictures. She took 2 good naps and she slept through the night!

Mt. Rainier

This was our last visit to one of Washington's finest National parks. We wished we would've camped there, but we didn't even think of it til we were there; oh well. We ended up going on a hike, which we though just a nice easy hike, well we ended up taking a little 1.7 mile from the original easy hike, and the entire 1.7 miles was uphill!! it was tuff!! My butt and calves are even a little sore ;) We're going to miss the beauty of WA; but we are so excited to be going back home! But first we will visit our friend Trish in Alaska for 1 week, we have always wanted to visit Alaska and it's gonna be great, lots of fun!! lots of pics!
Anyways, we were supposed to have visited this park while Xiomi was here but it was rainy and cloudy; but we still ended up visiting Mt. Baker (closer to where we live).
So the packing has begun; it's a good thing it's not too much and we're leaving a couple of things behind too. Sofia and I will be flying out on the 8th back to Albuquerque, and Aaron starts the long drive back home. Pray for safe travels for us please.

Weekend

This weekend flew by! It always does when someone is visiting. Xiomi came down for the weekend, well actually she left today (tuesday). We all had a really good time. We did quite a bit. The first day we did the downtown and lake Union tour with the "duck tour"; it was fun, Xiomi explained the rest in her blog. Then the next morning we went to the Edmonds fresh market. We walked around wishing we had alot more money to spend. There is alot of art/jewelry people's own "creations" and of course the beautiful flowers, fruits and veggies. Later on that day we went for a nice little hike to this Ice Cave in Mt.Baker. It was such a beautiful walk!!! On Sunday Xiomi and I went sea kayaking in Anacortes around Burrows Island. It was rainy but it actually cleared up in the end, we didn't get to see alot of wildlife, but it was still so much fun!! On Monday Aaron had to go work :( but, us girls took off to the NW Trek Wildlife (something like that). it was neat, it was about 700+ acres of land; a bunch of animals roam free; like bison, elk, mountain goats, moose; we got see quite a bit. they take you on a little bus with big open windows and you sit there and watch the animals. They also had "predators" in their own area, but of course closed off, but it was neat because they're not in a cage, they have a big open space with lots and lots of trees, water. we saw wolves, bears, cougar. It was a good day. Unfortunately it all went by so fast! Anyways, now we get to start packing. We leave for alaska next Friday!! we're excited!!

9 Months

Sofia is now 9 months! The summer has flew by. Sofia is a big girl now, she's quite the speed crawler and every once in a while she does these little frog jumps while she's speeding thru and it's quite funny. We took her in to Aaron work to check her weight and we were suprised! she weighs almost 20 lbs!!!!!!!!! can you believe that!!!! She was only 15.4 at 6 months.
We have a little over 2 weeks left here in WA; we go to Alaska to visit our friend Trish on the 31rst for a week. We're really excited to go, then on the 8th Sofia and I get back to Albuquerque; Aaron unfortunately has to drive :( We are only home for 1 week then we head back out again, we're going to Costa Rica for 3 weeks, then we'll be home for sure!

Sofia's first tooth!

Sofia finally had her first tooth pop through. Right now the second bottom one is about to come through also, she's just now started to eat again, her poor gums were really bothering her. I'm not sure if you can really see it on the pics, but it's there!

Seattle Aquarium

Yesterday we visited the aquarium in seattle, it's right on the pier. It look really cool, and I was afraid of missing it and then hearing someone say, "i can;t believe you didn't go". So we went, spent $30 and it was dissapointing!!! aww, we went through it pretty fast, the dome was pretty cool, but overall NOT worth $30 oh well. We did get to walk around the pier they have a lot of good looking restaurants; we ate at one that you kind of order like fast food, expect it's not, I got fish (smoked salmon) n chips (big potatoe wedges), yumm, it was very good.

San Juan Island Trip

This week we went to visit San Juan Island. It's a 1 1/2 drive up north to catch the ferrie, then the ferry is an hour long. We had a great time. When we got there we were quite suprised to see so many people there! don't people work! we were afraid we wounldn't find a camping site; but thank God we did. Sofia has traveled really well; considering she is teething. The next morning we went to Lime Kiln State park; apparently the best spot to watch orca whales from land and sure enough. as soon as we were able to see the water we saw whales! it was very exciting. There were several pods in the area some from far, others were closer to the shore. A mom and baby came very close to the rocks. they are so amazing to look at. Just that made our trip worth while. Snow Lake Hike

We went for a wonderful hike yesterday with some friends. It was a wonderful time and a wonderful reminder of God's majesty and beauty. Sofia really enjoyed being outdoors.

Zoo trip

We went to the Woodland Zoo in Seattle on friday. It was a lot of fun, it was Sofia's first zoo trip, she enjoyed it; but she didn't like the lady with the snake :-( She did get to pet a goat and a bunny. In a couple more years she'll enjoy the zoo even more.

Visit to downtown

We tried to find a church today but somehow the directions were wacked! we didn't find it. So, we ended up going to downtown visited pionner square and waterfall park. It's been such great weather, high 60s cloudy; so we walked around downtown taking it easy and of course had a cup of coffee. We've somehow managed to drink a lot more coffee since we've been here. It's been rainy/cloudy the last couple of days, that's what we blame it on. ;-)

Today is Aaron's birthday, so happy birthday honey! Unfortunaly he's at work, but yesterday we celebrated his birthday. We went into seattle, quickly walked through pike's market; then our plan was to go the aquarium but when we got it was so packed just to get in, so we decided to go somewhere else. we visited the seattle center; it's where the space needle is and they have a little fair there and a museum of science fiction. Then we went to a lavender fest in marysville, which is about 20 miles from where we live. It was small, but nice. oh, in the morning i went to the fresh market at edmunds it so nice. Beautiful weather, beautiful day. ;-)

Lots of new things going on with Sofia, now she's been crawling around all over the place. We have to keep a closer eye on her, she loves to pull everything down; and pull up on everything too. I even caught her picking at the safety plugs in the wall! yikes! she's getting so heavy too.

Camping

We got a great camping spot at the Hoh Park, they're not too close together and we got a corner spot next to the river with beautiful views of the mountains. The first day we hiked to a waterfalls called marymere falls it was a nice hike; the second day is when we did the 6 mile hike. Also on the way back home on saturday we stopped at a lavender field farm; it was great, I took lots of pics! By the way Aaron didn't carry Sofia the entire way, we took turns I'm just the one always with the camera. :-) (in case you were wondering.) In case you didn't know you could click on the pic and it gets bigger and I wrote little notes on them.

Olympic National Park

Last week we went to the Olympic National Park and we stayed in a cabin at Lake Cresent and the second day we camped at Hoh Rain Forest. We had a great time, everywhere we go is just so beautiful! I took so many pictures! Sofia did great, she never fusses when we're outside and she's in open air. She takes naps in her backpack and just chills out looking around. The night and the mornings were quite chilly. It was in the 70s during the day, perfect weather. Our next big adverture will be San Juan Islands in 2 weeks. In other news, Sofia is crawling and standing on anything and everything; she babbles a lot in a high squeeky voice it's quite funny to listen to her. Also she loves to eat paper and anything off the ground, but for sure paper is her favorite, she's obssesive when she sees a piece of paper she'll pull it out of your hand so fast and it's straight into the mouth! It's been difficult to figure out which pics to put up, so I'll probably put a bunch up. :-) Have a good week people.

Snoqualmie Falls

Yesterday was a beautiful day here, we were in the 70s, warm and sunny. We went to visit Snoqualmie Falls; it was quite impressive. We hiked down to the bottom only to find it a bit too crowed and all the people that we saw on the river rocks had jumped out of the observation deck and climbed down a little trail. We all had a great time, and Sofia loves being outside in her little backpack; which by the way we found in goodwill for $7 we were looking at other ones at REI and they were $100 so we were really blessed.

Deception Pass State Park

We went camping for the first time with Sofia. It was such a beautiful park, we had a lot of fun. Sofia did great, we were in an area not next to other campers, which I was happy about in case she started crying at night. She did pretty decent at night. Anyways, thank God she did so good, she loves being outside! anyways, the park is on an island; kindof close to vancouver.

We've been having alot of fun hiking and exploring washington. It's such a beautiful state. It's still quite chilly, in the 50s in cloudy, rainy days; but we still manage to go out and have fun when it clears out a little. 7 months!

Sofia is growing up, she just started to pull herself up when she's sitting. She's still not crawling, she does go to her knees but then lays on her belly. Anyways, she's eating well, sleeping not so well, she's starting to get more comfy here and last night she finally slept all night. thank God. Aaron is doing good too, job is good, and he's got a great schedule; every other week he gets 5 days off in a row. Anyways, i'll write more and post more pics soon. we've been having lots of fun hiking.

Camano Island

We went for a drive on saturday afternoon, it was a little rainy but we went anyways. We went to Camano Is. it's about an hour and 20 min north from where we live. It was beautiful, of course it was also freezing cold!! We do want to go back and go camping on a nice day in July :-) Sofia is doing good, more and more mobile everyday!

Mountlake Terrace, WA

We're here! Sofia and I had a great flight on friday, she did so good! thanks for the prayers, it was a long trip for a baby. We live in a nice apartment near a small lake, (lake Ballinger) and next to a golf course. We had a beautiful weekend, temp in the high 70s, now the past 2 days it's been chilly; about 56. Aaron started working monday, 11am-11pm; he says the hospital is good. I've been slowly unpacking, almost done now, only one more bin of clothes. Aaron will be off this weekend after tomorrow; so, we'll see what we do, where we go. I'll be sure to post pics.

Update finally

Lots has been going on since the last time I wrote something. Lets see, Xiomi came last Saturday and she drove with my mom and abuelo to Tucson for Rebeca's graduation. It was a nice evening graduation. We had a great time with the family. Sofia and I flew. Sofia had her first swimming pool experience, she just loves the water!! Now Xiomi left on Sunday morning. Aaron and I took advange of the aunty Xiomi and Grandma, we got to go out on 2 dates in 1 week. It was great.
On other big news, we've been very busy packing. For those of you who don't know; we're moving to Edmunds, Wa for the summer; which is about 15 miles north of Seattle. we'll be back in the beginning of Sept. Aaron starts driving Wed morning and plans on getting there Thur. night. Sofia and I fly out on friday, and he'll pick us up in the airport. Hopefully he'll be able to at least partially start moving in. Aaron starts work on Monday in a small hospital in Edmunds. I won't be working at all; hospital work that is. :-) We're excited and sad about leaving all at the same time. We're gonna miss family and friends. We trust God has gone ahead and He'll have a church and new friends waiting for us. :-) We do know 1 Christian couple already. Anyways, it's a busy week ahead, lots of new adjustments for all of us. Please keep us in your prayers.

Here's Sofia, growing like a weed! she weighed 15 lbs 7 oz and is 26 1/4 in long. She had a good day after her shots, took good naps; and is all smiles! She also started eating in her big girl high chair now. :-)

Safari/Petting zoo

We went to visit the local safari, it's like a zoo, except you drive through it and most animals are out in the open, unless they can kill you (like the bears, tigers, lions etc.) otherwise lots of animals roam the area, it's very big, with ponds and hills. Some animals you are able to pet, sometimes they have baby bears or baby tigers you can hold. this time they only had rabbits, and you could go inside the cage where they had 2 lemars, they were cute; but we didn't go inside. anyways, Sofia got to pet a kangaroo and some goats. We had fun. Aaron's brother Joe and his son Holden came with us. We had a nice time.

Meeting Zeke

Here's Sofia and Zeke, they're cousins; only 3 months apart. He is so adorable! and he's such a big boy! Zeke is turning 9 months this week and Sofia turned 6 months today. We had a nice time in Arkansa, Aaron's family finally got to meet Sofia.

We went to visit Aaron's family in Arkansas over the weekend. This was Sofia's first airplane ride. She did really good, she cried for a little while (very loud) in the beginning of each flight, i'm not sure why but she was upset!! but she took a little nap and woke up feeling much better. The airplane was pretty empty so we were able to just take the car seat inside the plane, she was just chillin in it. It was worth every penny to fly versus driving; and we got great prices on airplane tickets, and they were direct flights. sweet :-) :-)

Here's Kyra hanging out, she likes lulu at a safe enough distance. She's not used a doggy coming up to lick her. Sofia, well, she wrestles with her lion until finally the lion wins and she falls asleep. They're almost starting to look about the same age. they love to go for each others eyes, hair or anything they can get a hold of. :-) They're fun to watch

Here's Sofia having carrots, she really likes it! she kept blowing on the spoon and making even a bigger mess. she's starting to get the hang of it.

5 months!!!

Time is really flying, She's already 5 months. She's doing good, growing like crazy! she keeps getting longer and longer. :-) thanks to her dad. She's been rolling from her belly to her back, but just turns to her side while on her back. Also she's barely started to try to sit up on her own, only seconds at a time; I don't know if it counts; but we say it does/ :-) we've ventured into foods again, I'll post some pics of that next.
